About the artist...

I am a retired teacher. I spent most of my career teaching middle school art which I found to be an exciting and challening assigment. From there I went to the elementary level and taught computer skills to 4th - 6th grade students.

I have a wonderful husband, Chuck, Shiloe, our newest family member, Chloe the cat , and 3 fish that share a house with me.

I have always been interested in working with hot glass and find that lampwork beadmaking fulfills that desire. There is something hypnotic about working in the flame - it just draws you in.

Inspiration comes from many places; I found my inspiration for my "Lil' Kids" while in Puerto Vallarta, Mexcio visiting the Manuel Lepe museum. His paintings which are very naive and whimsical are based upon children.

Working with glass gives me a feeling of satisfaction, accomplishment and completion.

I hope that you will enjoy my work - and that some of it will bring a smile to your face.

About my "assistants"...

Shiloe at 8 months.

Shiloe8months.jpg
Shiloe is a "petite" gal - dal.  She weights in at 38 lbs compared to the 50 that Vangie weighed.  Very different temperments and behaviors.  Vangie would "yodel" for a lack of a better discription to get your attention, Shiloe "squeals" and squeeks.
On Sunday, July 8th, Shiloe came into our family - things have not been the same since! She beautiful, loving, demanding and fearless and we love her.

Meet "Shiloe, Lady of the Glen".  She's a real sweet heart with what I call "wise eyes".

Here she is at 12 weeks old.

She's not quite ready to be my assistant yet...

Vangie-
"Army's Prize, Evangline"

March 14, 1990 - April 16, 2007

Last spring,  I lost a brother-in-law - Gary - and my best fur-friend and helper Vangie.

They are both missed. Vangie in particular leaving a major hole in my life. In the last six months of her life her degenerative mylopothy required a lot more attention - that I was glad to give.

Chuck and I are in recovery on both losses and a new dal puppy is on her way...

Time is a great healer..
