Up coming events

Wow - have to get use to this and keep it up to date. Because I am short of time I'm going to list events that are taking place in the next week -

First - Bead Bonanza, Sunday October 11 at the Southfield Civic Center from 10 -5.  I believe the admission is $4.  It's a great bead show, probably the largest in the state.  Come see me with my beady buddies at the Fire Foxes booth.

Second - I will have 3 pieces of my work at the Birmingham Community House "Our Town Fine Arts Show"  It is an unbelievable show, the entire place is taken over with art, all kinds of art. The preview opening is Wed. October 14th from 5:30 - 9:00 with tickets costing &75.  It is a wonderful opening, great food and drink and live performances.  The show is open to the public Thurs. through Saturday.  Will try to get the details up soon.

Lampwork is an old term that dates back to the use of oil lamps and foot-powered bellows to make objects out of glass.

Today we use the term to describe handmade or handworked glass pieces created with a torch. Most lampworkers today use oxygen-propane or oxygen natural gas torches to create their works of art.

Each of my beads is fire-born and kiln annealed for strenght.

October 2009 -

October is here, hard to believe and it's hard to believe that Bead Bonanza is coming up this week.  Have been having "issues" with my website and haven't been able to update it for several weeks - hopefully it will work now and I can get new info out!

August 2009 -

I want to say "thank you" to everyone who came by our booth at Beadfest Philly.  It was good to see faces from the past 2 years and wonderful to meet new ones.  It was a wonderful show and we plan on being back next year!

July 2009 -

I have been experimenting with murrini that I made myself - nothing fancy but they are becoming more complex. I am trying to play with colors that make up the murrini and learn how they affect each other as well as the base color.

June/July 2009

I am proud to announce that my work will be exhibited as part of the Lawrence Street Gallery Summer Invitational show.  And I am very excited to have my work covered in the Oakland Eccentric, a local newspaper.  Unfortunately, there's no picture of my work with the article but the writer gave a beautiful verbal description of the piece and my thanks go out to her...

 June 2009 -

I must apologize to anyone reading my site - I've had a technical glitch and none of my changes to the site "stuck".  So I wasn't able to say I would be at Bead & Button Show this year.  But I will take a moment to say "thank you" to everyone who came by the Glass Act Booth and made a purchase or just stopped to say "hi".  It was appreciated.

February 2009 -

It's about time I up-dated my site!  It has been a busy 6 months and I'm happy to say alot of it has been due to travel.  In November, my husband, several friends and I went to Peru.  We visited Lima, Cousco and of course Machuu Picchu.  From there we took a cruise that brought us up to Equador, Costa Rica, the Panama Canal, Columbia and back to Florida.  It was great and we were away for almost 3 weeks.

And we just returned from 2 weeks in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico which was spent with husband, family and friends.  And there is more travel ahead.

Because of these southern jaunts, I have been studying Spanish - I have a long way to go but I have really learned a lot, enough to make me aware of what I really don't know!

But enough about life - let's talk beads and jewelry!
